The Kisumu National Polytechnic (TKNP) is a public technical and vocational training (TVET) institution registered under the Ministry of Education in Kenya. Kisumu Polytechnic started operations in 1988 as a Technical Training Institute with the aim of offering courses geared towards producing hands-on human resource competent in the application of technical skills. The Polytechnic was later upgraded to a National Polytechnic status in 1997 by the Ministry of Education in order to meet the regional demand for technical skills in Kenya.
The Kisumu National Polytechnic has 11 departments that offer certificates, diplomas, and higher diplomas. The main examination bodies include KNEC, NITA, CDACC, NVCET, ICDL, and KASNEB.
